Friends of Snape and Thornton Watlass Schools (FOSTW)

Our Friends of the School is a small but enthusiastic and supportive group of parents, friends and family who organise numerous events throughout the school year. Our main focus is advancing the education and enjoyment of children at the school, by assisting and providing facilities that the school may not otherswise to be able to afford.

Regular Events:
Snape Fun Run, an annual event held in September. Friends provide all the catering for this event and this has proven to be a very successful fundraiser.
Football & Fun tournament, held in June, attracting teams from all around the area.
Car Boot Sale at Bedale Hall

We also have orgainsed raffles, quizzes and lots more. Of course, the added bonus is that these events enable parents, staff and the wider community to get together, socialise and enjoy themselves.

We are very proud that the fundraising efforts of our organisation have raised many thousands of pounds – a fantastic achievement for such small schools. Recently this has enabled the purchase of new role play and outdoor equipment for Early Years and KS1, as well as enriching the curriculum through school trips to York’s Chocolate Story for a Mayan History workshop, Bolton Castle, pantomines at Darlington and Richmond,  and much more!

We are always interested to hear from anyone with any new or fresh ideas. If you would like to find out more about Friends, then please contact : Mrs Amy Fairburn (Chair) through the school, or use the comments box below.
